Having dined at her restaurant, stayed at her hotel and currently saving for one of her products, it’s fair to say I am one of India Mahdavi’s biggest fans. When news of an upcoming project gets back to Chamber Tales HQ, we eagerly await snippets of information and fantasise about what it will look like. And we ALWAYS get it wrong because no one has creative vision quite like India, which is why she is so unique and her genius is respected around the world. One of her most instagrammable projects to date has to be central London restaurant Sketch, a dreamscape loved (and still loved) by fashion darlings falling over the pink velvet bibendum chairs and slick missoni esque marbled chevron floor.
Iranian born India’s base is in Paris where she conjours up her designs for interior spaces, furniture and objects. She uses marble, brass, wood, velvet, lacquer and silk to create the most visually spectacular interiors that are playful, sexy, theatrical and she applys these to restaurants, bars, hotels and private residences.
